Pando vs Dynalist, for the people still there
Dynalist deserves more credit than it gets. Dates inside bullets, files and folders, a free tier generous enough to live in: for years it was the power user's answer to Workflowy. Then its makers built Obsidian, and Obsidian won their attention. Dynalist still runs, still syncs, and still takes new sign-ups; what it visibly stopped doing is growing.
That is the real comparison: not feature against feature, but a product in maintenance against one that ships weekly and publishes its progress as it goes.
What Dynalist people expect, and where it lives in Pando
- Dates. A date inside a bullet's text is enough: it appears in the
calendar and in the daily digest without a separate field. The timeline shows everything dated, wherever it sits in the tree.
- Files and folders. Pando has one tree instead. Any branch works as a
folder; zoom makes it the page, and a bullet's own URL is its address. The PARA shape covers what most people used folders for.
- Mirrors work the same way: one bullet, several places, one edit.
- Import. Dynalist exports OPML; Pando reads it whole. Formatting,
notes and checkboxes survive.
What Pando has that Dynalist never got
Agents as first-class residents. Claude, ChatGPT or Claude Code connect over MCP, keep their own persistent memory branch, and work only in the branches you grant. The agent writes what it needs from you into your tree as checkboxes; you tick, it continues.

Tables and boards inside the outline. A bullet's children can render as a table's rows or a board's columns, and turn back into bullets with one layout change.
Live sync in under a second, measured on production: a phone edit reaches the laptop in about 0.8 seconds, and another person's edits, or an agent's, appear while you watch.
The honest caveat
Dynalist is stable precisely because it stopped moving, and stable is a feature. If your system runs and you never want an agent inside it, there is no urgent reason to leave. The moment you do want one, a maintained product with an agent door is the shorter path.
Moving day, if it comes
Export OPML in Dynalist, drop the file on Pando, and check the template gallery for the shapes you kept folders for. Export back out is one gesture, so trying costs a Saturday morning, not a commitment.
